Oleochemicals for the UK market
Since Brexit, many chemical products imported into the UK have had to comply with the UK's REACH legislation: Registration ensures the protection of human health and the environment throughout the supply chain. Tom, how will this affect CREMER OLEO's product range in the UK?
Our main product in the UK, glycerine, is not subject to UK REACH. We are continuing to offer our customers all the familiar products and services. For all other products, such as fatty acids, bioethanol or fatty alcohols, we will be happy to consider a quotation. As an independent trading company, we cannot be a UK REACH registrant as we are not a manufacturing company. However, we have been successful in the oleochmicals market for many years and have a global, large and well-established network. We can therefore source UK REACH registered products, including back-to-back business for larger orders. We are happy to consider this on a case by case basis.
And how could the import then take place?
If a customer wants to organize transport and import to the UK themselves, we agree on suppliers and transport routes for the goods in advance. They can then arrange for FCA to collect them from the port or from one of our warehouses.
How can products subject to UK REACH be checked and tested before purchasing?
Order quantities of less than one ton per year are generally not subject to UK REACH. We can therefore send samples without any problems.
